1998 a group of friends & I decided to take a beginner Yoga class. After class, I so calm & centered & yet energized. It was as if I had come home! I remember, it felt like I had shoes made of clouds! My mind had stilled to focus on one thing YOGA this had never happened before! I distinctly remember saying to my friends "I'm Going to do Yoga forever"!
The Love Of Teaching
In the 12 years that I was a hairstylist, I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to become a professional educator for an international hair color company. This gave me the opportunity to travel across Canada teaching seminars and doing stage work at trade shows! This work fulfilled me creatively, & gave me many great memories! It was through my years teaching hair color, that I discovered, a love for teaching!

Time For A Change
As the years passed I had started developing work related injuries, & had to cut back to working only part time! This coupled with my growing feeling that I needed more, that something was missing had forced me doing some soul searching....if I wasn't going to hair what would fulfill me? At this point I already new I had a passion for Yoga and a passion for teaching ...so I decided to combine my passion for knowledge with my passion for Yoga!
Back To School
So after much thought & research I enrolled in the Yoga College Of Canada! It was an amazing program; I have never grown so much mentally & spiritually in such a condensed amount of time! I graduated in the summer of 2004 and have never looked back!
My Influences
I am strongly influenced by BKS Iyengar Other teachers that inspire my practice & teaching are Gurmukh & Cindy Lee Locally I am inspired by & have studied with Margot Kitchen & Valerie Crump

What Is Iyengar Yoga?
Iyengar yoga was developed by Bks Iyengar, who was born in India in 1918 and still lives there today.
This the most widely recognized form of Yoga and much of today's "Yoga vocabulary" is based on his teachings.
Iyengar Yoga is a precise system, concentrating on the physical alignment of postures and often making use of props such as straps, blocks, bolsters and chairs to assist the student.
What Does That Mean To Me?
What this means is that if you aren't flexible or have injures we can use the props to help support you!
So if you can't reach the floor for example we can bring the floor up to you!
In this way many people who thought they could not do Yoga realize they can!
Most of all I want my students to feel a safe and supported so that the body can adapt and grow into the poses.
When we learn to stretch in a mindful way it is amazing how the body responds!
